Summer 2026 Internships
Kona Hills Campground is a new and growing outdoor destination overlooking Lake Superior just outside Marquette, Michigan. What started as a raw piece of land is becoming something much bigger, a place for real camping, outdoor recreation, and community connection.
We’re looking for a small team of motivated interns to help us build it.
Interns at Kona Hills don’t just “help out.” You’ll work alongside the founders on real projects. from welcoming campers and telling our story online to building trails and improving the land itself. Every day is different, and the work is hands-on, outdoors, and meaningful.
High Level Details:
20 weeks @ 20 hours/week
Start/end dates are negotiable. Kona is open May 22-Oct 19.
Located in Marquette
Paid: $20/hr
Credit eligible, per university guidelines.

Position Overview
The Camp Host Intern plays a key role in daily campground operations and guest experience. Kona is a self-serve, digital first campground. This role is for students who want to understand how a destination operates from the inside out. The Camp Host Intern is a visible leader onsite — shaping the guest experience, upholding our rustic standards, and supporting daily operational excellence.
This is not a front-desk job — it is an immersive, boots-on-the-ground role that actively helps shape the guest experience at a growing outdoor destination.

Position Overview
The Trail Building Intern supports the development and maintenance of Kona Hills’ trail systems and outdoor infrastructure. Kona Hills is actively developing trail systems, scenic viewpoints, and recreational infrastructure. Current projects include a perimeter trail, internal trails, and multiple lookouts, and constructing permanent bathrooms.
This is physically demanding, mission-driven work for students who ant to build something tangible and lasting.

The Marketing Intern will help tell the story of Kona Hills through digital platforms, with a strong focus on social media content creation, brand storytelling, and audience engagement. Help shape our public narrative — from campsite life to large-scale nitiatives like ice farming and trail development.
This is a creative, strategy-forward role— not just posting photos, but helping build an emerging outdoor brand.
