Rustic Camping Above Lake Superior
We are closed for the season.
2026 Season Dates: May 22-October 18
40 secluded campsites, 80 acres of forest, and Lake Superior just minutes away in the heart of Marquette county—welcome to the camping experience you've been dreaming of.
Locally owned, intentional vision
Kona Hills is locally built and privately owned. We’re starting simple, and with each season we’ll continue to grow, improve, and build on what’s here. Thanks for camping with us in these early days—it means a lot to have your support as this place takes shape.
On-Site Amenities
Water
Fresh, artesian water is available for campers at the welcome area via a hand pump well. Fill water bottles, containers and more. There is no hose hook up anywhere on site.
Bathrooms
The 2026 season we will have vault toilets, no showers. We are in the process of upgrading these facilities and are working to bring more comforts in future seasons.
Fire Pit & Picnic Table
Each site features a double walled fire pit and picnic table. Local, kiln dried firewood is available for purchase at the welcome area. Payment can be made with cash or card.
Things to know before you book
-
No vehicles or trailers over 24' & no gas generators
Kona Hills is a rustic campground with no electric or water hookups, and gas generators are not allowed. Our rugged terrain includes steep grades and natural features—sites are best suited for tents, car campers, and small rigs under 24 feet. Larger RVs and trailers may not fit or maneuver safely. For big rig-friendly options, explore other Marquette campgrounds.

Lake Superior Outlook is Closed
While Kona Hills features incredible views of the UP, the Lake Superior Overlook, aka “The Rock Cut”, is closed while we work on providing safe access.
-
Firing Range Noise
Our campground is located within earshot of a Department of Corrections shooting range. While we have no control over when this area is used, it is typically during daytime hours. We hope to limit noise in the future.
